A sapling which was sown by Gen BC Joshi on 16th Oct 1993, is now a sprawling campus of 23 acres with pollution free healthy environment. It has turned into a healthy plant and is growing well in the beautiful valley of the Pithoragarh hills. General BC Joshi Army Public School has been established under the aegis of Army Head Quarters, Adjutant General's Branch, to cater to the needs of children of defence personnel including ex-service men, and to some extent to those of civilians and Non-Resident Indians. The School aims at providing quality education in an environment that ensembles the contemporary values of science and technology with our rich traditions, ideals and cultural heritage. It also ensures a judicious mix of academic competencies, physical fitness, discipline and social awareness. It prepares children for All India Secondary School Examinations and All India Senior Secondary School Examinations conducted by CBSE, New Delhi.

Teachers' Day Celebration 2024

Gen BC Joshi Army Public School Pithoragarh celebrated Teachers' Day 2024 with great enthusiasm and grandeur. The day began with a special assembly, where students showcased their talent through a series of captivating performances. The program included a heartfelt welcome song, a melodious group song mashup, an energetic group dance, and a heart-warming skit. Adding to the celebration, students from Class XII stepped into the shoes of teachers for the day, taking on the role of teacher representatives. In his address, Principal Mr. Vinod K Bhama highlighted the profound impact teachers have on shaping lives. He urged students to aspire to be not only successful but also empathetic and compassionate individuals, emphasizing that this would be the greatest tribute to their teachers. The afternoon was dedicated to a special program for the teachers, filled with fun and joy. A variety of engaging activities were organized to entertain the faculty, creating an atmosphere of jubilation and relaxation. To express gratitude, the teachers were also presented with tokens of appreciation, symbolizing the school’s recognition of their dedication and hard work. The event culminated in a delightful lunch featuring traditional dishes made from Ragi (Maduwa) flour, followed by a group photo to capture the memorable occasion.

Sports Day Celebration 2024

Gen BC Joshi Army Public School Pithoragarh celebrated Sports Day with great enthusiasm on 29 August 2024. The event featured a series of engaging competitions for the students of the preparatory wing, including sack races, needle and thread races, and lemon races etc. Several competitions were also organized for the teachers, with Principal Mr. Vinod K Bhama actively participating in the events. His involvement added to the spirit of the day, making the event even more exciting and memorable. In his address, Principal Mr. Vinod K Bhama highlighted the significance of the day, marking the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. He emphasized the importance of sports in building character, fostering teamwork, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. The Sports Day was a resounding success, appreciated by all participants and spectators alike, leaving everyone with cherished memories of the celebration.

Shri Krishna Janmashtami Celebration at Gen BC Joshi APS, Pithoragarh

Shri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with a fervour of devotion and cultural vibrance by little Krishnas and the Bal-Gopals of Gen BC Joshi APS, depicting the life and teachings of Lord Krishna. A skit portraying various stages of Lord Krishna’s life, highlighting the Bal-Leelas, sacrifices and powers of the Supreme Lord which continue to inspire and mesmerize humanity. In his address to students and the staff, the Principal Mr. Vinod K Bhama enlightened them on the significance of Lord Krishna as the 8th incarnation of Lord Vishnu, emphasizing that Krishna represents a complete and profound manifestation of divinity. He spoke passionately about the transformative power of the teachings in the Bhagavad Gita, urging everyone to read this sacred scripture and to embrace the path of Karma Yoga—a life of selfless action and righteousness. The program was met with resounding appreciation from all present, with the audience deeply moved by the performances and the insightful words of the Principal. The pgme valedicted with singing the National Anthem, followed by a group photo.

78th Independence Day Celebration at Gen BC Joshi Army Public School Pithoragarh

The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with great pomp and show by the young students of Gen BC Joshi APS Pithoragarh. The celebration commenced with the solemn and proud moment of hoisting the national flag by the Chief Guest, Brig SPS Chouhan, Chairman of the school. The essence of India "Unity in Diversity" shone through the vibrant and colorful cultural performances presented by students from different grades. The program featured captivating dances by the tiny tots to patriotic songs, as well as stirring group songs performed by the four houses. In his address, the Chief Guest spoke eloquently about the many forms in which patriotism can be expressed. He highlighted how school days play a crucial role in shaping a child's personality and commended the students for their exceptional performances and the staff for their dedicated efforts. Principal Mr. Vinod K Bhama also praised the students and staff for their tireless contributions to making the event a success. The program concluded on a sweet note with the distribution of sweets to the students and a high tea for the Chief Guest and staff.

Har Ghar Tiranga: Tiranga Rally at Gen BC Joshi Army Public School, Pithoragarh

In a vibrant display of patriotism and unity, Gen BC Joshi Army Public School hosted a Tiranga Rally on the occasion of 78th Independence Day, as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign. The event was inaugurated by the esteemed Principal, Mr. Vinod K Bhama, who flagged off the rally on 14 August 2024. A spirited group of 700 students and 23 teachers enthusiastically participated, marching from the school to the War Memorial at Kasni, Pithoragarh, and then returning to the school. Throughout the rally, the participants proudly waved the national flag, chanting slogans that echoed their deep love and respect for the nation and its heroes. At the War Memorial, students paid homage to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country’s safety.

On 14th August 2024, Gen BC Joshi Army Public School hosted a vibrant Inter-House Rangoli Making Competition, bringing together creativity and teamwork across three categories: Preparatory, Junior, and Senior. The event showcased artistic interpretations of themes such as Independence Day, Raksha Bandhan, Paris Olympics, and the Culture of India.

On 7th August 2024, Gen BC Joshi Army Public School, Pithoragarh, joyfully celebrated the festival of Hariyali Teej. The event featured a vibrant cultural program with students from both the Senior Wing and the Preparatory Wing participating. Silver Jubilee Celebration of Kargil Vijay Divas at
Gen BC Joshi APS Pithoragarh

Gen BC Joshi Army Public School Pithoragarh marked the Silver Jubilee of Kargil Vijay Divas with a series of special events and performances. The celebrations aimed to honour the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers who fought in the Kargil War and to instill a sense of patriotism in the young generation. The tiny tots of the Preparatory Wing set the tone for the day with heartfelt speeches, thoughtful reflections, and patriotic songs. Their performances were a touching tribute to the spirit of Kargil Vijay Divas. The highlight of the event was a poignant skit performed by students from various age groups. The skit depicted the life story of Captain Vijayant Thapar, a Kargil War hero, and left the audience deeply moved, with many shedding tears. The powerful portrayal of his bravery and sacrifice resonated strongly with everyone present. Workshop on Developing Communication Skills by the Principal, Mr. Vinod K Bhama

A 150-minute workshop on Developing Communication Skills was conducted by the Principal, Mr Vinod Bhama at school on 23 July, 2024. The workshop was a two-and-a-half hr non-formal and informative session especially designed to enhance the communication skills and abilities of the staff. The session was truly interactive with full involvement of the staff wrt their day-to-day communication skills. Mr. Bhama elaborated the fundamentals of verbal, written and non-verbal communication, offering valuable tips for improving communication skills. The workshop was a happy-clappy and Learn with Fun activity and was valedicted with distribution of chocolates to all participants.

Enriching Yoga & Meditation Session by the Principal, Mr. Vinod K Bhama

An enriching & rejuvenating 90-minute Yoga, Pranayama & Meditation session was conducted for staff in school by the Principal, Mr Vinod Bhama, today. With 72 enthusiastic participants, the session began with a series of conditioning asanas designed to prepare the body and mind, followed by a sequence of standing asanas focused on strength and balance, culminating in calming pranayamas to enhance breathing and relaxation. The meditation was truly taking the attendees in to a world of calmness and serenity.

On July 22nd, Gen BC Joshi APS Pithoragarh hosted a special assembly to celebrate Guru Purnima, recognizing the profound significance of Gurus in our lives. Fancy Dress Competition 2024 (Preparatory Classes)

The preparatory wing of Gen BC Joshi APS hosted a vibrant fancy dress competition on Friday, July 19, 2024, with 172 enthusiastic participants. The event featured five categories: "My Favourite Cartoon," "Things Around Us," "Aquatic World," "My Favourite Country," and "Our Freedom Fighters." The youngest participants charmed the audience with cartoon characters like Elsa, Anna, Batman, and Superman. Class II students showcased their creativity by transforming into everyday objects, while Class III participants dazzled as aquatic creatures, bringing the ocean to life. Class IV celebrated global cultures with traditional attire from various countries, and Class V paid homage to India's freedom fighters with poignant portrayals of iconic figures like Mahatma Gandhi and Rani Lakshmibai. The competition was a resounding success, highlighting the students' creativity, confidence, and talent. It was well appreciated by all!!

Harela Celebration at Gen BC Joshi APS Pithoragarh

To celebrate the Harela Festival, a festival that symbolizes greenery, peace, prosperity, and environmental conservation in Uttarakhand, on 13 July 2024 our school organized a special assembly that showcased both the cultural and environmental significance of this festival. The assembly ground was adorned with various stalls featuring local dishes prepared specifically for the Harela Festival, as well as demonstrations on how to grow 'Harela' at home. These displays provided valuable information to the attendees about the traditional practices and customs associated with Harela. The skit performed by the young artists of the school not only entertained the audience but also educated them about the cultural importance of the festival. It also served as a reminder of our responsibility to embrace the age-old traditions, protect and nurture the natural beauty of Uttarakhand. During his speech, Mr. Vinod K Bhama passionately expressed how the culture of Uttarakhand has inspired him and deepened his love for the state and its people.

“Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” Drive: Pledge and Plantation Campaign during Harela Celebration

Gen BC Joshi APS Pithoragarh proudly participated in the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, encouraging a pledge and plantation drive to honour Mother Earth. In Pledge ceremony, 1850+ students and 100 staff members pledged to plant at least one tree in dedication to their mothers and committed to maintaining a clean and green environment. As part of this noble pursuit, the school organized a plantation drive, with 250 students and 25 staff members actively participating. During this campaign, over 50 saplings were planted in the school premises. The event was presided over by the principal, Mr. Vinod K. Bhama, who emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering environmental stewardship among the young minds.

On July 12, 2024, Gen BC Joshi Army Public School held its annual Inter-House Quiz Competition, featuring both Senior and Junior categories. Each category consisted of six challenging rounds, showcasing the students' knowledge and quick thinking. The event was expertly conducted by Mr. Vineet Singh Chauhan and presided over by the esteemed school Principal, Mr. Vinod K. Bhama. Overall Results:

Participation in NCC All India RCTC 2024 & Gold Medal in Anchoring.

Four NCC cadets Cadet Priyanshi (Class XII D), Cadet Siya (Class X E), Cadet Abhanshu Solanki (Class X E), and Cadet Modit Karki (Class X C) from General BC Joshi Army Public School participated and excelled in the RCTC 2024 held in Pithoragarh. The event was organized by the 80 UK Battalion NCC Pithoragarh. Cadets, from 9 Directorates from all over India participated in the Event. From the Uttarakhand Directorate Cadet Priyanshi stood out by clinching the Gold Medal & Cadet Modit Karki participated in a rock climbing competition and clenched a bronze medal. The school, led by Principal Mr. Vinod K. Bhama, celebrated the cadets' achievements. Mr. Bhama congratulated the students and extended his best wishes for their continued success in future endeavours.

Brig Shashank Bahuguna, CSO at HQ UB Area and Chairman APS Bareilly, visited General BC Joshi Army Public School Pithoragarh on 29 June, 2024. The CSO was received and briefed by the Principal Mr. Vinod K. Bhama, about the school, its curricular, Co-curricular and the infra achievements. Brig Bahuguna expressed his delight and admiration for the progress and uniqueness of Gen BC Joshi APS, noting its premiere status among schools nationwide.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA CELEBRATED AT GEN BC JOSHI APS PITHORAGARH

International Yoga Day was celebrated in the school from 7:00 am to 9:00 am on 21st June 2024. The Yoga Session was conducted by the Principal, Mr Vinod Bhama. Students and teachers participated and practised the yogasanas during this 2-hr yoga session. The participants performed and experienced various asanas and the pranayamas, viz conditioning/meditation; Sukshyam Vyayamas; Tadasan, Gaumukhasana, Makarasana, Bhujangasana; Suptavakrasana; Trikonasana; Pawanmuktaasana, Vajrasana; Makarasan; Kapalbhati, Anulom-Vilom; Bhramari Pranayam etc. The Principal explained how the Yoga is not just some exercise but a way of living a healthy life. He enlightened the participants with benefits of yoga asanas in daily life. The yoga session was thoroughly enjoyed by the students and it motivated them to know and adopt the ancient Indian Culture of practicing yoga and stay healthy & happy. The Session ended with OM Chanting and Vedic Mantras. Refreshments were also served to the participants. Ultimately it was a serene beginning of a gala day while practising Yoga with the Principal

Monumental Meeting with the First Lady during COAS Visit to Pithoragarh

During the maiden visit of General Manoj Pande, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, - COAS, and Mrs Archana Pande, President AWWA, on 14 June, 2024, the Principal Mr. Vinod K. Bhama, alongwith two student-artists of the school Mstr Harshit Pal and Mstr Siddharth Roy Class X, had the honour of meeting the First Lady. In this memorable event, Mr. Bhama proudly presented sketches of General Manoj Pande and the First Lady, skillfully crafted by these two budding artists of Gen BC Joshi APS Pithoragarh. The First Lady expressed her heartfelt joy and blessed the students for making beautiful efforts in drawing the sketches and presenting them as a token of respect and affection. The First Lady conveyed her best wishes for constant growth of the school.

अंतर्सदनीय हिंदी वाद-विवाद प्रतियोगिता

दिनांक - 28 मई 2024 को प्रातः विद्यालय की प्रार्थना सभा में अंतर्सदनीय हिंदी वाद - विवाद प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया गया l प्रतियोगिता दो चरणों में आयोजित की गई l प्रथम चरण में कनिष्ठ वर्ग (कक्षा 6,7 और 8) के विद्यार्थियों ने भाग लिया l कनिष्ठ वर्ग में वाद-विवाद का विषय था - बच्चों से उनका बचपन छीन रहा है यह मोबाइल फोन इस विषय पर विद्यालय के चारों सदन- भगत सदन, मानेक्शा सदन, थिमैय्या सदन और करियप्पा सदन के दो-दो विद्यार्थियों ने क्रमशः पक्ष और विपक्ष में अपने विचार प्रस्तुत किए l द्वितीय चरण में विद्यालय के वरिष्ठ वर्ग के (कक्षा- 9 से 12) के विद्यार्थियों ने भाग लिया। प्रतियोगिता में वरिष्ठ वर्ग के लिए विषय था - आज का मीडिया समाचार कम, सनसनी अधिक परोस रहा है l वरिष्ठ वर्ग में विद्यालय के सभी चार सदनों - भगत सदन, मानेक्शा सदन, थिमैय्या सदन और करियप्पा सदन के तीन-तीन विद्यार्थियों ने क्रमशः पक्ष, विपक्ष और प्रश्नकर्ता के रूप में प्रतिभाग किया। प्रतियोगिता में मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में विद्यालय के प्रधानाचार्य श्री विनोद कुमार भामा विद्यार्थियों के उत्साहवर्धन हेतु उपस्थित रहे। सभी विद्यार्थियों ने अत्यंत ओजश्वी वाणी में अपने-अपने विषय के पक्ष और विपक्ष में विचार व्यक्त किए l निर्णायक मंडल के निर्णय के अनुसार प्रतियोगिता के परिणाम निम्नवत रहे। संपूर्ण परिणाम :-

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION FOR BOARDER STUDENTS

Gen BC Joshi APS Pithoragarh organized a combined birthday party for boarder students whose birthdays fell in April and May. Students from each house performed dances or sang songs, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony and refreshments. Principal Mr. Vinod K. Bhama gave a heartfelt lecture, wishing the students a bright future.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2024

On May 21, 2024, Gen BC Joshi Army Public School, Pithoragarh hosted its investiture ceremony, marking the appointment of new members to the school cabinet. Master Rishabh Digari was honuored as the Head Boy, while Miss Priyanshi was designated as the Head Girl. Brigadier SPS Chouhan, Commander of the 119 (I) Inf Bde Gp, graced the occasion as the chief guest, accompanied by Mrs. Tulika Chouhan, Senior Director, FWO, Panshshul Bde, as the guest of honour. The ceremony commenced with the school prayer, followed by an impressive March Past. Next, the Pipping Ceremony took place, leading to the Oath Taking Ceremony, where the new appointees pledged their commitment under the guidance of Principal Mr. Vinod K Bhama. In his inspiring address, Brigadier Chouhan congratulated the newly appointed leaders and encouraged them to fulfil their duties with integrity and dedication. He also extended his congratulations to the class X and XII CBSE Toppers for their outstanding academic achievements. MOTHER'S DAY CELEBRATION 2024

On May 13, Gen BC Joshi APS Pithoragarh celebrated Mother's Day with great enthusiasm and reverence. The highlight of the event was a heartfelt skit performed by the students of class 6A. They depicted the life story and sacrifice of Panna Dhai, a legendary figure known for her extraordinary act of loyalty and bravery. Panna Dhai, a nursemaid in the royal court of Mewar, sacrificed her own son to save the crown prince, showcasing the epitome of selflessness and devotion.

Winners- Central Command BasketBall Tournament 2024
(U-17 Boys)

In a thrilling culmination to the Central Command U-17 Boys Basketball Tournament 2024, the host team, Gen BC Joshi Army Public School Pithoragarh, emerged victorious in a spirited clash against APS Prayagraj, with the final score 84-76 in favour of Gen BC Joshi APS Pithoragarh. Brig SPS Chouhan, Commander of the 119 (I) Infantry Brigade Group, graced the event as the chief guest, while Col Vikram Singh, Commanding Officer of 2/11 Gorkha Rifles, honoured the occasion as the guest of honour. The esteemed guests their heartfelt congratulations to the participating teams, coaches, referees, and organizers for their commendable efforts in making the tournament a resounding success.

Inter-House Cross Country Competition

On the vibrant morning of May 4, 2024, the grounds of Gen B C Joshi APS, Pithoragarh, pulsated with energy as the school hosted an Inter-House X-Country Competition, welcoming students from classes VI to XII. Under the auspices of Off Principal Mr. Ravindra Saun, the event commenced with a fervent flag-off, Across four exhilarating categories, students showcased their endurance and determination, embodying the ethos of healthy competition and camaraderie. In the culmination of the event, the results were announced, with Bhagat House emerging triumphant in the first position, Cariappa House, secured the esteemed second position, while Thimayya House claimed third position. Finally, Manekshaw secured the fourth position.

At Gen BC Joshi APS, Pithoragarh, fostering young talent is a priority. On May 3, 2024, the school hosted an exceptional talent show. Our enthusiastic students demonstrated their skills with remarkable dedication and passion. Noteworthy performances included acrobatics, a puppet show, classical music with dance, and solo and group Chaliya performances.

Inter House English Debate Competition was conducted on 29 April 2024 in the school. The event was divided into two categories, Junior – for classes VI to VIII, and Senior- for classes IX to XII.
The topics of the debate were as under-
Junior- AI is a threat to society.
Senior- Security is more important than freedom.

Celebration of World Earth Day

On April 22, 2024, Gen BC Joshi Army Public School Pithoragarh enthusiastically celebrated World Earth Day with a series of engaging activities aimed at raising awareness about environmental conservation. Students and faculty alike actively participated in various events throughout the day. One of the highlights of the celebration was a captivating skit performed by Class IX C students. The skit portrayed the remarkable life and achievements of Saalumarada Thimmakka, a distinguished environmentalist known for her extraordinary efforts in planting and nurturing trees. Through this portrayal, the students effectively conveyed the message of the importance of individual actions in protecting and preserving our planet. In addition to the skit, the school organized an Essay Writing Competition and Poster Making Competition. These activities provided students with a platform to express their thoughts and creativity on environmental issues. Participants demonstrated their understanding of environmental challenges and proposed innovative solutions through their essays and artworks.

Celebration of the Festival of Baisakhi and
Commemoration of Jallianwalan Bagh Massacre.

On April 13, the Gen BC Joshi Army Public School in Pithoragarh commemorated the Jallianwalan Bagh massacre, alongside celebrating Baisakhi. The event included a poignant skit by the tiny-tots depicting the massacre and paying tribute to the martyrs. Mr. Vinod K Bhama, the School Principal, expressed gratitude to the martyrs and commended the students for their empathetic portrayal of history. The commemoration served as a reminder of sacrifices made for freedom and justice.

The Girls Football Team of Gen BC Joshi APS Pithoragarh won the Cluster-6 Football Tournament held at APS Ranikhet in April 2024. The school extends its heartfelt congratulations to the team for their remarkable victory. The school commends the team for their outstanding efforts and also commends the Football coach and the Department of Physical Education for their guidance and support.

Celebrating World Health Day at Gen BC Joshi APS Pithoragarh

World Health Day is a global health awareness day, celebrated every year on 7th April. This day is observed to mark the founding of WHO. To elucidate more about it, a lecture was given by Major Amanpreet Kaur , Medical Officer (161 MH) in Gen BC Joshi Army Public School, Pithoragarh on 08 April 2024; wherein students were sensitized with the theme for World Health Day 2024 'My Health, My Right’. The officer explained that this year’s theme was chosen to champion the right of everyone, everywhere to have access to quality health services, education, and information. She also explicated that to fulfil the right to health, both health services and the underlying determinants should be available, accessible, acceptable and of adequate quality.In addition, she mentioned that the right to the highest attainable standard of mental and physical health—or, the right to health has been core to WHO’s mission. The informative session fulfilled its objective to develop a deep understanding regarding the importance of individuals to take ownership of their health in all its dimensions.

Beginning of the New Session and The Puppet Show

Cheerful ‘Welcome” helps the students for a positive start to their new academic session. To make this journey exciting, successful and happy, a puppet show was organized in Gen BC Joshi Army Public School, Pithoragarh by the talented teachers of Primary Wing. Children love to play with toys and puppets. Their joy of watching puppets dancing and performing before them, is enigmatic. The puppet show not only entertained the little hearts but also throw light on the importance of education, role of good parenting, and the utmost need to be optimistic in nature. Students were wonderstruck to see the intricate skill of coordination and balancing of the puppetry artists. The whole show was undoubtedly, a visual treat for all.
